Reach down, pull the tab on the backside of the plug, and remove it. This will disconnect the EGR valve. (Ensure that the switch to the vehicle is off before pulling it, the vehicle must be off to ensure the valve is closed. Otherwise, it is possible to lock it in the open position.)
6389 posts · Joined 2018. #8 · Feb 5, 2022. There are a few video's on youtube showing how to CLEAN an EGR valve. And yes it does show that it goes after the air filter at the other end of the rubber hose. Now the ones I've been watching use "Mr Muscle" oven cleaner, but that's a bit drastic tbh.
What are some of the common causes of the code? Causes for this P245C code may include: Defective EGR cooler bypass valve. Clogged or damaged EGR cooler. Temperature switch malfunction. Excessive carbon buildup. Faulty or damaged wiring. Corroded, damaged or loose connector. Defective ECM.
Remove the EGR valve bolts, twist the valve and use a small pry bar between the ears of the valve and the intake manifold to pry up. You can use carb cleaner on the bottom section of the valve, do not get any in the upper electronic part. A new gasket kit is recommended. Typically OEM parts are the best for this motor.
