The difference between a CRT and a flat panel is that the CRT has much more color displayed at different visible wavelengths. Comparing a blue LED ("white") modern display to a CRT, the modern flat panel generally has less understandable contrast outside of any color other than blue. In blue, they are strikingly bold.
The big difference between LCDs and CRTs were that LCDs were brighter and thinner. However, if you have a good CRT, and don't really need the space and mind the energy difference, then stick with a CRT. Don't fix something that's not broken. Of course I didn't listen and bought a LCD a year ago while my CRT was going strong.
Even though there is an initial price difference between the LCD and the CRT monitor, the LCD monitor will probably pay for itself due to these cost saving facts: it is new, thus less likely to require service, it is cheaper to operate (uses less electricity), and ; it is much lighter than a CRT monitor, thus it is cheaper to ship the multicade.

LCD monitors do not emit harmful radiation, whereas CRT monitors produce it. They also are true digital devices, and thus, provide accurate representation of digital data. The dimensions of the display are more representative of what is seen. A 17" LCD monitor has approximately the same viewable area as a 19" CRT. Summary: 1. LCD is a type of flat panel display. 2. Other types of flat panel display include plasma, OLED, and LED. 3. LCD is the most economical option among flat panel displays for sizes under 50 inches. 4.
